QLD:Private funeral for League's 'Big Artie'

A private funeral will be held today to honour rugby league great ARTHUR BEETSON, who
died from a heart attack on the Gold Coast last week.

Family and friends will gather at the Redcliffe Leagues Club, north of Brisbane, to
remember the first indigenous Australian to captain his country in any sport.

BEETSON is considered a patriarch of the club, which recruited him as a teenager in 1964.

A public memorial for the league great will be held for the man known as "Big Artie"

at Brisbane's Suncorp stadium on December 18.
