Filmmaker Hal Roach returned home to Elmira on Friday for a belated 100th birthday celebration.
The three-time Academy Award winner, who has been feted around the world, came to his native city to attend a dinner held in his honor by Elmira College and the Hal Roach Society.
"The amazing thing about Elmira is that it never changes," Roach said upon arriving in Chemung County. "The people who have money have money, and the people who don't have money don't."
